Tecate's Family of AC Safety Capacitors for X- and Y-Class Applications Features Both MLLCs and OPP Radial Box Capacitors

Parts Optimized for Use in AC/DC Power Supplies and RJ11 Applications

San Diego, CA, November 21, 2014...Tecate Group, a leading global supplier of capacitors and ultracapacitors, announced their extensive offering of AC Safety Capacitors for X- and Y-class applications. Tecate's X/Y safety capacitor portfolio includes both TYPE CMX (60950-1) multi-layer ceramic chip (MLLC) capacitors and reduced-size TYPE MPXM (60384-14) metallized polypropylene (OPP) radial box capacitors. The UL-CSA-recognized devices target a broad range of applications requiring across-the-line and line-to-ground protection. They are optimized to handle high-voltage impulses and transients, as well as to protect users from electrical shock. These capacitors can also be used to filter EMI in power-supply applications.

Tecate's TYPE CMX safety-certified X2/Y3 and X1/Y2 ceramic SMD capacitors offer high capacitance values in small, low-cost packages. Designed for use in an array of network infrastructure, power-management, telecom, and office equipment applications, parts are specified for surge and EMI suppression in switches, routers, concentrators, AC/DC power supplies, remote metering, solar inverters, battery chargers, telecommunications, lighting, ADSLs, and modems.

Available in NPO/COG and X7R dielectrics, Tecate's TYPE CMX MLCCs are offered in capacitance ranges from 2pF to 4700pF and 150pF to 0.056uF (X2), in case sizes 1808, 1812, 2208, 2211, 2220, and 2825. Their additional electrical specifications include a rated voltage of 250VAC and an operating temperature range from -55ºC to +125ºC. They are recognized by TUV and UL and, upon request, are available with flexible termination.

Featuring non-inductive construction, Tecate's self-healing, reduced-size TYPE MPXM safety-certified X2 OPP radial box capacitors boast a voltage rating of 275VAC (250VAC for UL and CSA) and provide a low-cost EMI-noise-suppression solution in a precision-molded case. Parts have copper-clad steel leads and are encapsulated in flame-retardant plastic cases (UL 94V-0 compliant) sealed with epoxy resin. The capacitors also feature high moisture resistance and good solderability. These capacitors are engineered for use in line-by-pass, across-the-line, and spark-killer circuits and are ideal for service in power-management circuits, power supplies, AC/DC converters and inverters, voltage doublers, and antenna-coupling applications. They are widely adopted for use in telecommunication, computing, industrial control, lighting, appliance, medical, audio, video, power tool, radio, and TV broadcasting equipment.

Tecate’s TYPE MPXM capacitors are UL-, VDE-, SEV-, SEMKO-, DEMKO-, NEMKO-, and FIMKO-recognized parts and are supplied in capacitance ranging from 0.01µF to 4.7µF and in sizes ranging from 13mm (L) x 11mm (H) x 5mm (T) to 41.5mm (L) x 31.4mm (H) x 24mm (T). Their operating temperature range is -40ºC to +100ºC. Their lead length is 23mm minimum.

Delivery is from stock to 10 weeks ARO. For more information about Tecate’s AC Safety X- and Y-class capacitors, and to purchase them, visit http://www.tecategroup.com/capacitors/applications/ac-safety-capacitors.php.
